Mary J. Blige and K-Ci
She was the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul,” and he was one of the lead vocalists for one of the 90s biggest R&B groups, Jodeci. Mary and K-Ci had powerful chemistry on record, but by all accounts, their personal relationship was a nightmare of addiction and abuse. Blige later admitted they both had a powerful cocaine addiction, and that her relationship with K-Ci was abusive on both ends. She eventually got clean and continued a thriving career, while K-Ci’s career eventually bottomed-out due to his addictions.
