Ike and Tina Turner
He was a soul, blues, rock songwriter and arranger who wrote and recorded “Rocket 88,” what many consider the first rock ‘n’ roll record. She was the sexy singer who fronted his band. Together, they were one of the most influential acts of the 1960s, but Ike would routinely abuse Tina. Over the course of their tumultuous marriage, he assaulted her several times — though he later said the allegations were exaggerated. Tina subsequently divorced him and became a solo superstar. Ike died in 2007.
