President Obama named 'Time' magazine's person of the year

Malala Yousafzai

15-year-old Malala Yousafazi was the runner-up for this year’s ‘Person of the Year.’ The Pakastani teen blogger was shot in the head by the Taliban after blogging about her education for the BBC. After surviving the attack Yousafazi continues to speak on the importance of education, in particular for girls, and when photographed by Time insisted on being photographed holding a book and wearing a headscarf to hide her wounds as a nod to tradition and to make the point that her “priorities had not changed.”
