Most violent video games on the market
Ever since last Friday’s tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, critics have pointed to violent video games as a possible cause of killer Adam Lanza’s heinous crimes. Sources close to the 20-year-old told news outlets that Lanza enjoyed video games like “Call of Duty” and “Starcraft” that feature violence, mutilation and mass shooting.
Since then, lawmakers have taken action. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., has introduced a bill to study the impact of violent video games on children. According to the Democrat, taking a deeper look at excessively violent video games has been long overdue. “This week, we are all focused on protecting our children,” said Rockefeller. “At times like this, we need to take a comprehensive look at all the ways we can keep our kids safe. I have long expressed concern about the impact of the violent content our kids see and interact with every day.”
