Coach Lovie Smith fired by Chicago Bears, players threaten to retire

Lovie Smith is one of the best coaches in the NFL, but today he doesn’t have a job. The Chicago Bears fired Smith after the Bears didn’t make the playoffs. However, the Bears won 10 games and were considered a shoo-in to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season.

The Bears struggled during the season mostly because of Jay Cutler’s injuries and the quarterback’s inconsistent play. A few players are taking Smith’s firing hard. Pro Bowler Devin Hester threatened to retire. “I don’t even know if I want to play again,” Hester said. “That’s been something on my mind for two years.”

Smith led the Bears to the 2007 Super Bowl.
