Many of Aykroyd’s films have subtly showcased his affinity for Black music, and while the original 1984 Ghostbusters theme by Ray Parker, Jr. may be more iconic, the 1989 sequel featured a who’s-who of late 80s New Jack Swing and hip hop stars. Run-D.M.C. and Doug E. Fresh make appearances, and Bobby Brown is featured on two tracks, including the Babyface-penned mega-hit, “On Our Own.”
