Atlanta rapper Yung Teddy murdered after tweeting about death threats

We’re only four days into 2013 and Atlanta’s hip-hop scene has already been hit with tragedy as up-and-coming ATL rapper Yung Teddy was found murdered on Jan. 2, after he tweeted about receiving death threats just a few hours before being slain.

According to the media, 23-year-old Yung Teddy, born Justin Mitchell, was found dead from a gunshot wound in his Austell, Ga., apartment after police responded to a call of a shooting from the home around 10:18 p.m.

AllHipHop reports that just five hours before the rapper was slain, he tweeted an ominous message about receiving death threats.

“N—AS WANNA SEE ME DEAD,” tweeted Mitchell, who also posted a screenshot on Instagram of the death threat to himself and his family.

According to the media, police are looking for two suspects in the shooting. The first suspect is a black man between the ages of 20 and 23 with a thin build and about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 in height. He was last seen wearing a gray sweater, dark pants and a black beanie hat.

The second suspect is another black man about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6 in height. He was last seen wearing a multicolored beanie hat and a navy blue bandanna covering his face.

Those with information about the murder are urged to contact Atlanta police at 770-499-3945.

Our condolences go out to Mitchell’s family and friends and we hope that this will be the first and last hip-hop murder we see in 2013. Check out some other murdered rappers below. –nicholas robinson
