Few athletes have watched their careers implode like former NFL star Chad Johnson, who was dropped from his contract with the Miami Dolphins after his infamous attack on his ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada, in August 2012. But if you think the unemployed athlete is hurting for cash, think again. According to a new report, Johnson is still rich and raking in major dough.
According to TMZ, Johnson recently filed legal documents in Florida to outline his current financial situation for his ongoing child support battle with one of his baby’s mothers. In the documents, Johnson claims that he earned an average of $66,104.66 a month for 2012, despite not having an NFL salary.
Johnson also claimed to have more than $1.28 million in real estate assets, $600,000 in cars, $75,000 worth of furniture, $40,000 in jewelry.
Johnson also has virtually no debt, and when it comes to his expenses, he spends $16,000 a month in child support (for another baby mama), $5,000 monthly on entertainment, $3,500 on clothes, $1,000 on pet expenses and $250 on personal “grooming.”
And just how does Johson rake in all of this money? Well, he claims that he earned the cash through “self-employment, partnerships, and/or independent contracts.”
Well, at least Johnson is doing a good job with managing his money, unlike these other financially strapped athletes below. –nicholas robinson
