Ulysses ‘Chris’ Gissendanner III murdered
A Chicago rapper is mourning the death of a family member who was killed in the latest round of bloodshed. Chief Keef, who made headlines with his bizarre Twitter rants and rivalry with now-deceased rapper Lil JoJo, is the latest person to feel the effects of Chicago’s gun violence. Reps for the rapper confirm that his stepbrother, Ulysses “Chris” Gissendanner III, 19, was fatally shot in the back of the head Sunday. Gissendanner and Keef were related to each other by marriage. Keef’s father, Alfonso Cozart, wed the late rapper’s mother, Aridecy Tate. Tate and Cozart divorced last year.
Prior to his death, Gissendanner had rap dreams similar to that of his stepbrother. Under his stage moniker, YPN Boomtown, Gissendanner recorded several hip-hop songs. Keef’s attorney, Dennis Berkson, says that the two teens “weren’t friendly” and Keef did not have a relationship with his father. Gissendanner is the fourth Chicago teen killed in gun violence since September.
His parents say he was enrolled in college and a “positive person.” –danielle canada
