Porsha Stewart-Williams found herself in a surprising debate with Kandi Burruss on a recent episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” when she revealed that she didn’t have a prenuptial agreement with her wealthy husband, former Pittsburgh Steelers star Kordell Stewart. But, in her latest Bravo blog post, Stewart-Williams explains why she doesn’t believe in prenuptial agreements.
“In my opinion a marriage is a sacred union between two people coming together as one with love being that foundation, being one in mind, body, and spirit,” she wrote. “This means I want to agree with my husband and have like minds, I want to bond with him in the flesh (meaning anything that has to do with the natural things, whether it’s a sexual, monetary, or family issue etc.).”
Stewart-Williams continued to emphasize her focus on being of equal mind and body with her husband, and added that she wouldn’t allow a legal document to define her relationship or divide it.
“I also want to become one spiritually with my husband so that we are equally yoked. We have the same beliefs when it comes to God and how WE have our purpose shown to us by God. So through bonding with him in mind, body, and spirit there is no place for a piece of paper to stand between us,” Stewart-Williams said.
However, Stewart-Williams did admit why Burruss and many of their fans disagree with her stance.
“However I totally can see anyone else’s point of view and understand why she or anyone else would choose to have one,” she wrote. “For me I see it as a ‘to each his own’ issue.”
Well, we hope that Stewart-Willaims’ anti-prenup stance doesn’t end in financial disaster (for her husband) like it did for these other former couples. – nicholas robinson
