Ratchet MLK Day party fliers: Good promotion or disrespectful?

Promoters often will do anything to attract people to their event. However, some promoters take things a bit too far. With Martin Luther King Day approaching, a few promoters are using the civil rights icon’s image to market events that do not  honor Dr. King or  his legacy.

Some market fliers with edited photos of Dr. King and place him with alcohol, money and scantily clad women. There was even a party flier produced titled, “Light Skin vs. Dark Skin.”

The fliers ignore the battles that were fought by Dr. King to gain equal rights for minorities and women. It also shows how some are willing to degrade a legend in order to make money at a nightclub.

It’s highly unlikely that Dr. King, or his family, would approve of his likeness being used for individuals to celebrate his legacy with debauchery in a nightclub.

Share your thoughts. Are the fliers good promotion or disrespectful to Dr King’s legacy?
