“I ran to direct this play,” director Michael Wilson shared. “I’m so thrilled the play now is going to be centered with an African American family. I used to live in Houston, and [there’s a section] called ‘Freedmen’s Town’ — which is the 4th ward. That town was founded in the aftermath of the Civil War Reconstruction and Jim Crow was very present. I think it’s going to add resonance to this play and yet another level of meaning. And to work with this company of actors? My goodness!”
