Vanessa Williams said that the timing of this production could not have been any better, as she was wrapping the final season of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” when the opportunity to join The Trip to Bountiful arrived. “I was on a show that got canceled and within a week I got a call about this magnificent show. And it was a no-brainer. I had the job of going back to work [where] everyone was scratching their heads like “… What am I going to do? Pilot season is up.” And I was like “Eh, I’m doing a Broadway show. [Laughing] And again, I’m playing another woman with an attitude!”
