Flu virus: How it spreads
The flu is highly contagious and is spreading rapidly across the nation due to two main reasons: 1). Many people do not get vaccinated; and, 2). the flu virus can be present before the carrier knows he or she is sick.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adds:
“Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick.”
