No. 9 Lee “Scratch” Perry
Perry is credited with inventing the unmistakeable “chugging” rhythm associated with reggae music that made it distinctive from its ska predecessor, and he produced genre and era-defining 70s works by the Wailers, Peter Tosh and Junior Murvin. His sonic trademarks helped make reggae an international phenomenon, and he was later sought out to produce tracks by everyone from The Clash to the Beastie Boys.
