BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — One year ago on Saturday, the world mourned the sudden, shocking death of music legend Whitney Houston.

One year later, Clive Davis paid a verbal and video tribute to the fallen musical angel in the same Beverly Hilton that the “Greatest Love of All” singer had passed, calling her “the greatest, greatest singer of our lifetime.”

A whole spectrum of A-list celebrities came to pay homage to the voice behind The Bodyguard album, the bestselling movie soundtrack of all time, including Diddy, Miley Cyrus, Sting, John Legend, Larry King, Gale King, Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, Jennifer Hudson, Gladys Knight, Magic Johns and wife Cookie, Wiz Khalifa, Devyne Stephens, Randy Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Ne-Yo and many others.

Even members of Houston’s family, Pat and Gary Houston, accepted Davis’ posthumous tribute.

Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, Chaka Khan and Bobby Brown were, of course, conspicuous absences, though Brown was seen at other pre-Grammy events.

Below is a photographic roundup of the illustrious extravaganza.
