Future‘s Freebandz artist, Slice 9, is cementing a strong sound on Atlanta’s music scene. Taking cues from his leader, who is killing the airwaves, Slice 9 shows that Southern hip-hop can be mature without alluding to the trap house.
As the event hosted by Epic Recordings’ Cory Sparks, played mellow hip-hop melodies to a room of industry tastemakers and fellow Freebandz family, it’s evident that Slice 9 is definitely on the right track. Known for the buzz from his song “Another One” featuring Future and Levi Leer, Slice 9 slipped in a few new songs to the crowd who has been waiting anxiously for him to reveal his next direction.
Maybe because many young hip-hop heads can relate to his not yet released “Young N- Problems” where his “pants keep fallin’, girls keep callin’,” Slice 9’s tracks commanded the room to beef it up as his staccato lyrics make this song a shoo-in hit. Overall his music is fun, youthful, and a window into the fun side of hip-hop.
