What initiated your love of sports?
I’ve been a huge sports fan my entire life. As a child I competed in pretty much everything, including football, fast-pitch softball, tennis, volleyball, swimming and even soccer. I used to get football uniforms complete with helmet and pads. By the age of 12, my father told me I could no longer compete with the boys in football. Despite my disappointment I continued to be a student of the game by following sports on talk radio, in newspapers and various sports shows. In the midst of my sports journey, I attended charm school and took etiquette classes. Now, here I am today a mixture of all the above.
What is the premise behind Chalk Talk?
Sports is one of those times when we can all be on the same page regardless of ethnicity, socio-economics or gender, but if you can’t speak the language, you’re left out of the conversation. Chalk Talk helps anyone, particularly women, learn the language. It gives participants some basic tools to deal with the sports side of any man. Whether it becomes water cooler talk, chats over lunch, or just a snippet about the hot sports topic of the week, Chalk Talk helps level the playing field in an arena that can be somewhat foreign and intimidating. Sports [talk] is a unifying language and I’d like to help everyone through my private and corporate “Chalk Talk” events.

Anyone who is interested can register and log in on my Chalk Talk Houston website and stay tuned for a “Chalk Talk” TV show that we will start shooting in the next few weeks. I also write a “Chalk Talk” column for Culture Map and will be launching a “Chalk Talk” blog on my website.
