'Dead Man Down' movie review

Stars: Colin Ferrell, Noomi Rapace, Dominic Cooper, Terrence Howard
Studio: FilmDistrict

Victor (Colin Ferrell) is a gangster with big aspirations. When his boss, Alphonse (in a chilling portrayal by Terrence Howard) destroys Victor’s life, the stage is set for an orgy of revenge. The only hitch is, Victor isn’t the only one trying to find a weak spot in the vile underbelly of Alphonse’s organization. A young woman disfigured by Alphonse (Noomi Rapace) is seeking a pound of flesh too, but she decides to enlist help from an unwilling Victor. How does she convince Victor to let her in on the action? Now that would be telling, but we can say that Mr. Howard’s performance sets a new standard for villains. His smile is scarier than his grimace. –p.d. lee
