Some said they hated the new reality series that explores several families as they navigate the perils of failed expectations and ever-present temptations with the daughters. Others felt an immediate bond to this new show because they or people they knew were went through similar circumstances as blossoming teenage girls with developing curves and exploding hormones.
One of the most poignant moments of the premiere episode happened when the Coleman daughters went shopping for a party and the younger, more attractive sister wanted to dressed provocatively to get the attention of a former boyfriend.
Taylor Coleman’s older sister disapproved of her younger sister’s choice of skimpy outfits: “You might as well be a stripper,” she said. “You want the image of a stripper?”
Younger sister, Taylor Coleman, responded: “I don’t care. I dont’ want to care,” she spat back, exasperated at constantly being on lockdown by her controlling parents and feeling imprisoned.
Pastor Ken Coleman, The father, actually prayed, “Lord, please, don’t ever let my daughter ever be a porn star.”
And this was just the tip of the familial iceberg. Exchanges like these went on throughout the episode and the audience ate it up and spat out strong opinions.
