The singer was one of the most acclaimed recording artists of the mid-2000s on the strength of two albums, but her troubles with drugs and alcohol soon began to overshadow her talents as a musician. She was hospitalized in 2007 for what was reported as an overdose of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine and alcohol. In early 2008, video surfaced of the singer smoking crack. She died of alcohol intoxication in 2011.
