Surprisingly, software developer Adria Richards was fired for sexist comments that she didn’t make. At the PyCon conference (the largest annual gathering for developers using the open-source Python programming language) in Santa Clara, Calif., two men referenced a dongle – a device that plugs into a computer – in a crude and sexist manner. It got under Edwards’ skin so she tweeted a retort to the inappropriate comment: “Not cool. Jokes about forking repo’s in a sexual way and “big” dongles. Right behind me #pycon,” accompanied by a photo of the two offenders.
