“Meet the Parents”
Featured on the widely slept-on Blueprint 2 album, Jay-Z tells the tale of a young woman who falls for a street hustler and eventually ends up pregnant by him after a one night stand. Once the street hustler walks away from the responsibility of being a father, the woman must raise her child alone. In a strange twist, the boy grows up and finds himself hustling on the same block as his father. The father and son, both unaware that they are family members, confront each other in an incident that leads to murder. If Jay-Z could find a way to turn three verses into a 120-page screenplay, it maybe worth watching.
