After a young Usher won “Star Search” at 13 and signed with LaFace Records, the R&B star’s mother, Jonetta Patton, named herself his manager. Their working relationship flourished throughout Usher’s 20s, as he became one of the biggest stars in music. Things began to get bumpy when the star met and married Tameka Foster against his mother’s approval. He fired her in 2007. He eventually hired her back, only for their relationship to turn sour again once he began dating Grace Miguel.
