Brian Wilson
The gifted musical genius and leader of the Beach Boys, along with his brothers Carl and Dennis, fired their abusive and overbearing manager Murry in the mid-1960s. Murry had helped them land their record deal and crafted their clean-cut surfer boy image but also physically assaulted and emotionally abused his sons in the studio. After firing him they never quite regained their commercial standing but they created much of their most critically-acclaimed work.
