It goes without question that music manager Pat Houston has suffered what has been perhaps the hardest year of her life in the wake of the tragic death of her sister-in-law, music icon Whitney Houston. Though Houston has remained strong in the public eye, an emotional Facebook status from her recently led her family to believe she was ready to commit suicide.
According to TMZ, early yesterday, Houston posted on her Facebook page, “Sometimes you just feel like giving up on life and its many challenges. For the first time in my life…I’m tired…and I want to finally rest. I love you guys.”
Sources claim that several concerned family members saw the Facebok status and begin trying to contact Houston, but to no avail. A few family members then went to Houston’s home and found her passed out in her bed with a bottle of pills lying next to her and they decided to call 911.
However, as soon as paramedics arrived, Houston woke up and explained that she had simply taken pain medication for her back and turned off her phone to fall asleep. Pate then explained that she wasn’t suicidal and that the Facebook status was just her way of venting her stress.
Despite her clarifying the situation, she was still taken to the hospital to be examined but she was released shortly after.
Well, it’s easy to see how Houston’s grave choice of words led to this misunderstanding but she’s not the only celeb who seemed to be in danger thanks to social media. Check out some other celebs that were thought to be dead thanks to Twitter and Facebook below. – nicholas robinson
