In some countries, females don’t have the right to protect themselves from a sexual assault. In Sweden, a 23 year-old woman was approached by a man who grabbed her butt after a short conversation.
Feeling violated, the woman slapped the man to protect herself from the unwanted sexual advances. But instead of backing off, the man called the police and press charges against the woman.
The woman was arrested and charged with assault. While on trial, the judge told the woman that the case was too “lopsided” to be considered self-defense. She was later convicted of assault.
The man requested $3,800 in damages, but the woman only had to pay $286 plus a $380 fine.
