Nicki Minaj exploded on Twitter in an angry tirade after recently ousted American Idol contestant Daniel Velez voiced his criticism of her “professionalism.” Velez, as well as fellow contestants Lazaro Arbos and Burrell Taylor, was blasted by Minaj for flubbing the Four Tops’ hit “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch).” Minaj chided the singers with “I’m gonna act like I didn’t see that or hear it,” before telling the boys to leave the stage. Velez spoke to reporters the following day, and defended his portion of the performance while criticizing Nicki.
“I agree with the first half of her critique, when she said that it felt like it was Hollywood week, that it was a joke, that stuff like that should not happen, that she was going to pretend that she didn’t hear it,” he said. “When she went crazy–when she was like ‘get off the stage, blah blah blah’ and it’s just like ‘Whoa Miss Minaj, I need you to calm down please.'”
Then he decided to get a little personal.
