Legendary hairstylist Vidal Sassoon died in May 2012 from complications of Leukemia. We recently reported that Sassoon disinherited his only son, David, whom he adopted, from his $130 million fortune just two months before his death. David, 40, says he doesn’t care.
In a recent interview, David reveals that his dad had an “obsession with perfection,” that forced him to have life-threatening weight-loss surgery because having a fat son was bad for his, Vidal’s, image. He goes on to say in part,”Dad created the ultimate dysfunctional family. To be honest, I would have been better off if he had never adopted me. Money and image were all that mattered to him. My Dad had that slogan, ‘If you don’t look good, we don’t look good.’ That carried through to the family. Dad was someone who would dress up to go to the supermarket. He was terrified of being seen not looking perfect. His image was everything.”
