Chicago teen kills and robs grandfather to purchase sneakers and tattoos

William Strickland was honored when his daughter, Lesley, decided to name her son after him. Unfortunately, the same child who was named after him ended up being his killer.

According to reports, 19 year-old William Strickland murdered and robbed the elder William Strickland, 72 years-old,  on March 31.


While leaving his home for dialysis treatment, the elder Strickland was ambushed by his grandson and another man. His grandson used a semi-automatic handgun to shoot him six times in the back.

After the murder, the younger Strickland robbed his grandfather of money. The next day, the younger Strickland used the money to purchase new sneaker, tattoos and a cell phone.


Strickland, who lived with his grandfather, has been charged with first degree murder.

Police continue to look for the second suspect.
