No. 1 Mariah Carey
A powerhouse vocalist and formidable songwriter, Mariah Carey may be the quintessential pop singer of her generation. Since 1993, she’s had two diamond, four multi-platinum and four platinum albums (not including compilations.) She has the most No. 1 singles of any solo artist in U.S. history and dominated the charts in the 1990s and early 2000s. By the turn of the millennium, pop, R&B and hip-hop all seemed virtually joined-at-the-hip, and much of the credit for that has to go to Carey.
