After just one season, the New York Jets have released quarterback Tim Tebow.

Following the selection of Geno Smith in last week’s draft, the Jet had six quarterbacks on their roster, they now have five.

Unless another teams grabs Tebow his NFL career could be in jeopardy.  Other NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET Tuesday to put in their bid for him. The Heisman Trophy winner, who led Florida to two national championships, has been working out at the Jets’ facility and was already in his workout clothes when he was called to the office of General Manager John Idzik.

“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” said Jets head coach Rex Ryan. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason (losing weight). We wish him the best moving forward.”
