Angel Haze defends her bisexuality to fans

Since first making waves in the rap scene in 2011, Angel Haze has been quite upfront about her sexuality, proclaiming in an interview with Vibe Vixen that she is openly bisexual. But despite her honesty, some of her fans still have a hard time believing that Angel can be attracted to both sexes and they recently challenged her to “pick a side” on Twitter, forcing the rapper to defend her sexuality.

The drama began earlier this week when fans began question her sexuality. One follower in particular asked Angel is she could “please go straight.” Angel, of course, refused and maintained that her sexuality is unchangeable.

“Excume sir, i like what i like!” Angel tweeted to @RollUpOne1988

However, another fan then questioned whether Angel is really a lesbian.

“No. Lol. i am whatever i am when i am it” tweeted Angel.

While the comments weren’t the most derogatory things that could’ve been said; some seemed innocent enough in intent but they are examples of the ways in which many in our culture have yet to understand or even the acknowledge the existence of bisexuality.

In a society where all of us are expected to define our sexuality in a very simple and basic way that doesn’t disrupt anyone’s comfort, bisexuality represents a very obvious challenge to that limiting idea. Many bisexual people have been subjected to comments about being “confused” about “picking a side or hole” or being “greedy” for being attracted men and women.

Hopefully, with the LGBT community progression into becoming a more accepted section of society, more people will come to understand that bisexuality, like any other sexuality, is quite real and that there is no side to pick; there’s only the choice of being true to yourself or limiting yourself to other people’s way of thinking.

Thankfully, Angel isn’t the only out and pride bisexual star out there. Check out some other bisexual celebs below. – nicholas robinson
