During his years as co-owner of Roc-a-fella Records, Dame Dash often called himself a “cake-a-holic” because of his extreme addiction to earning money. However, Dash has had trouble feeding his habit since parting ways with Jay-Z in 2004.

Once Jay-Z and Dame Dash went their separate ways, Dash earned $20 million on the split of their record label and clothing line (Rocawear). But Dash had trouble maintaining his earnings due to failed business ventures, spousal support and child support payments.

According to reports, Dash pays his ex-wife Rachel Roy $8,000 per month for their two kids and he pays an additional $4,341 per month for another son from a previous relationship.

Dash has also suffered in court. He lost lawsuits to a former bodyguard, designer Charlotte Ronson and a former landlord. He must also payback a $237,000 loan given by a garment industry lender.

Furthermore, Dash owes more than $2 million in taxes to the state of New York and could receive jail time if he doesn’t find a way to pay.

But even if Dash is able to shake his debt owed to the government, he will likely have to leave the home he owns in Carmel, New York. Dash has fallen behind $100,000 in his mortgage payments and faces eviction.

Dash has become another sad example of the fickle nature of the music business. He reached the pinnacle financially during his earlier years in hip-hop, but he’s now suffering from bad personal and business decisions.
