CCA pays millions for stricter laws
The CCA makes money when more prisoners enter their facilities. One of the best ways to ensure occupancy is to get members of the House and Senate to create and pass stricter laws that will result in more prison time. As a result, the organization has spent over $17 million to lobby both houses of congress and the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. They also contribute millions of dollars to campaigns that will work to their benefit. The CCA believes 20,000 prisoners will be incarcerated each year.
