Now You See Me
Stars: Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Caine
A team of illusionists who call themselves the Four Horsemen pull off daring bank heists in the middle of their act, and then give the money to the audience. Now, that’s magic we like. Law enforcement, however, does not share that enthusiasm (because stealing is wrong, no matter how lofty the intentions, right?), so an FBI agent and Interpol detective are set on the trail of the altruistic foursome. Rooting for the bad guys hasn’t been this much fun since Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. But root you will, despite all those Sunday school lessons. After all, is it really a bad thing to give a wad of cash to some poor schmuck who just lost his house? Illegal yes, but morally defensible. –p.d. lee
