Brawl breaks out at Cleveland kindergarten graduation
A kindergarten graduation turned into a nearly bloody brawl after an argument erupted between attendees of the ceremony. Police were called to the Michael R. White School in Cleveland, Ohio where eight people were arrested.
According to Roseann Canfora, a spokeswoman for the city schools, two teenagers got into a dispute and stepped outside to continue it.
“There were no students from our school involved,” Canfora told NBC News.
Cleveland Police Commander Wayne Drummond later added that investigators were trying to confirm reports that a spilled cup of punch sparked the original argument.
He said the first 911 call came in as a report of a shot fired which turned out not to be true.
Authorities say, however, that at least one person grabbed a club or a stick and another reached for a hammer.
No one was seriously injured, but there were reported scrapes and bruises from fighting.
Seven adults and one teenager were arrested for aggravated rioting. -danielle canada
