Mayim Bialik
Mayim Bialik, known for her roles on NBC’s “Blossom” and “The Big Bang Theory,” is an advocate for the benefits of placenta eating and previously slammed detractors.
In a blog post titled “You’re Not Gross” Bialik empathizes with other actresses who’ve been criticized for placenta ingestion.
“I ingested my placenta. I am not a bad person, a crazy person, or a freak and neither is Alicia Silverstone or January Jones,” she writes. “Human beings are the only mammals that have chosen to not routinely ingest their placenta, which is consumed by every other mammal for its protein and iron-rich properties that are critical in helping the mother’s body recuperate after giving birth.”
Bialik was also criticized for nursing her son until he was nearly 4-years-old.
