Not many 60-year-old men are in college working to earn their degree but James Robinson says standards have to be set for his daughters, Chauntella and Ebony, and it all starts with him.
How is this Father’s Day different from others?
I wouldn’t say that it’s different this year. I just appreciate the little things more. My daughters are all I have. I live each day for them to make sure that I am the best father I can be so they will know how a man should carry himself for them and his family.
What do you see in your daughters most that comes from you?
Stubbornness [laughs]. They are just like me in that aspect, but for the good. I test my daughters all the time. I challenge them for reactions and points of view on things that are going on in the world so that they will know what to expect and do when I’m not here. Never let a moment go by when you have the opportunity to teach your kids [and you don’t] because one lesson lost can be a lifetime of not reaching your full potential.
Do you consider yourself a great Father?
I consider myself a child of God, who was blessed with two of the greatest daughters in the world. All that I am is because I’m blessed to give knowledge and unconditional love to my family and that’s all that matters to me.
