Orange County, Fla. resident Melissa Neale, 34, was at her wits end on last Thursday, June 13, when she used a stun gun to discipline her daughter. Neale was upset because her daughter didn’t make the oatmeal the “right way.” Talk about Burger King’s “have it your way” setting high expectations when it comes to food, gee whiz. Neale backed her daughter in a corner and ‘stun gunned’ her left kneecap, leaving the child unable to balance and falling to the floor.
The child wrote a note that stated that she no longer wanted to live. A friend of the family felt it necessary to intervene when she came across the note in the child’s dresser and contacted police.
Neale has a different recollection. She told authorities that the stun gun was not powered on and that the bruises on her daughter’s knee came from a paddling with a spoon.
Neale was arrested at her place of employment, the Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was released on $2,500 bail late Friday evening. Her children are with relatives under the supervision of the Department of Children.
An unidentified friend tells the police, “When Melissa disciplines (the child) she will slap (the child) in the face, punch (the child) in the back of the head or will grab (the child) by the hair and pull (the child) around the room.”
