The American Black Film Festival and its founder Jeff Friday provided conference attendees with extra treats when they flew in the principle players of the 1999 classic The Best Man and it’s upcoming follow-up, The Best Man Holiday.
Nia Long (Boyz N the Hood, Love Jones), left, Sanaa Lathan (Love & Basketball, Disappearing Act), Morris Chestnut (Boyz N the Hood, Two Can Play That Game) and The Best Man director Malcolm Lee (Roll Bounce, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins) entertained a standing-room-only crowd as they talked about the magic that was created on the set of the original The Best Man and what its vast fan base can expect in the soon-to-be released sequel.
The audience erupted in cheers and laughter as the trailer for the The Best Man Holiday was shown and gave a rousing ovation once it was complete. And, yes, the Terrence Howard that many loved back in the 1990s returns to his old form.
As television entertainment reporter Shaun Robinson moderated the panel, beginning with Malcolm Lee, the cousin of Spike Lee, the cast members divulged the extremely unorthodox methods undertaken to get The Best Man Holiday made and green lit.
