Darron Brewer, 26, came to the realization that he was gay and decided that he no longer wanted to be with his wife, Kenyatae Coller-Brewer. But instead of getting a divorce, Brewer decided to kill his wife to obtain the insurance money.
According to reports, Brewer knew that his wife would receive a hefty insurance policy because she worked for the U.S. National Guard. Brewer and his younger brother, Dujaun Powe, put together a plan to kill Kenyatae.
In 2009, Brewer faked a carjacking and forced his wife into the trunk of a car. He then shot and killed her while she was in the trunk.
The brothers have been charged with murder and are currently on trial. The Brewers had two children.
