Sherri Shepherd will be in Atlanta today to speak and sign copies of her book, Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes (Even If You Don’t Have It).

After being told she was pre-diabetic but ignoring doctors orders for years to lose weight and live a healthier life to avoid full blown diabetes, Shepherd joined the 29 millions Americans who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  The diagnosis forever changed her life as she recalled how her mother died at the age of 41 from complications of diabetes. With the help of her personal doctor, Shepherd decided it was time to not only help herself but help others.

“I wanted to share my common sense plan with others and not want people to be paralyzed with fear once they are diagnosed with diabetes or hear the phrase pre-diabetes,” was Shepherd’s response when she was queried about why she wrote the book.

Whether you have diabetes or not, taking a vow to a healthy life including healthy eating and regular exercise will ensure that you won’t be diagnosed with diabetes. Plan D will encourage and provide easy simple ways to make simple changes that could save your life as it did for “The View’s” co-host, Sherri Shepherd.

Shepherd will be at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Bookstore, 946 R.D. Abernathy Blvd. SW, Atlanta, Ga. 30310. The book signing takes place June 28 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
