WINNERS:
Winners, Sacremento Kings:
The city, behind the leadership of mayor and former NBA star Kevin Johnson, staved off attempts to move the franchise to Seattle from this NBA desolation in Northern California. The Kings had not been relevant since Chris Webber and Vlada Divac were in their athletic primes in the late 1990s and early 2000s. So by keeping their only professional team and drafting Kansas Jayhawks superstar and probably NBA All-Star Ben McLemore at No. 7 raises the city’s diehard fan’s hopes even higher.
