R&B star Joe has put together one of the more respectable discographies in contemporary R&B. With almost 20 years of smooth balladry and hip-hop-influenced grooves under his belt, the Georgia-born singer is proof that pop success isn’t mandatory for a great artist. While mainstream audiences may not be as familiar with his lengthy body of work, his core R&B fanbase knows and loves the singer with the regular guy’s name.
And on a rainy Tuesday night in Hell’s Kitchen, Joe let his fans know that the feeling is mutual.
With his album Double Back: The Evolution of R&B hitting shelves that very day, Joe treated his fans to a special show at Stage 48 in Manhattan. Tearing through hit after hit, the singer gave a strong performance that reminded anyone who may have forgotten that he’s one of the best R&B artists of the last 15 years. Just two days before his 39th birthday, Joe made sure to celebrate in style.
