Dame Dash says Jay-Z’s album is ‘bittersweet’

"The Debt" New York Screening - After Party

Earlier this year, in an interview with The Combat Jack Show, hip-hop mogul Dame Dash spoke at-length about his estrangement from former friend and business partner Jay-Z. The two, along with Kareem “Biggs” Burke, famously founded Roc-A-Fella Records in the mid-90s and went on to become two of the most powerful figures in hip-hop. But after over a decade, they went their separate ways, with Jay going on to become an even higher-profile star and businessman and Dash seemingly fading from the spotlight.

During that interview back in April, Dash admitted that he hadn’t spoken to Jay in years. Nonetheless, he recently posted a message on Instagram regarding Jay’s newly-released Magna Carta Holy Grail album, which has received positive reviews from numerous critics since its release on July 4.

“In the barber shop listening to jays new album….I can’t front… I still like hearing him pop s–t cause I know he’s telling the truth…proud to be be a part of that..#bittersweet,” Dash wrote.

It remains to be seen if these two will ever work together again, but their track record as partners was one filled with successes — from launching Jay’s career and establishing street-oriented stars like Beanie Sigel and Freeway, to producing motion pictures and signing Kanye West.
