Juror B37 has faced tremendous backlash since breaking her silence after George Zimmerman was acquitted of the murder of Trayvon Martin. She signed with a literary agent with the hopes for a book deal and she appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360.”
During the episode, B37 showed a tremendous amount of empathy for Zimmerman by saying, “George Zimmerman feared for his life”; “George Zimmerman is a man whose heart was in the right place”: and “I feel sorry for George because of the situation he got himself in.”
However, other jurors in the trial have distanced themselves from Juror B37. In a statement, Jurors B51, B76, E6 and E40 said “The opinions of Juror B37, expressed on the Anderson Cooper show were her own, and not in any way representative of the jurors [B51, B76, E6 and E40] Serving on this jury has been a highly emotional and physically draining experience for each of us,” the statement said. “The death of a teenager weighed heavily on our hearts but in the end we did what the law required us to do.”
