The first ESPY Awards show aired in July 1993, 23 years later, this premier red carpet event to honor athletes is the talk of the country. Presented by ESPN, this glamorous showcase recognizes the individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Fans determined the winners in most ESPY categories.
Hosted by “Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm, the ESPYS was highly praised for its recognition of “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, who delivered a moving acceptance speech. She received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
