“Southern Man” by Neil Young

Fueled by the Canadian rock legend’s distinctly murky hard guitar riffing, this classic was Young’s angry take on the racism of the southern United States during the Civil Rights movement. Young’s words famously stung Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Ronnie Van Zandt, who penned “Sweet Home Alabama” in response.
