R.I.P.D. is an acronym for the Rest in Peace Department. R.I.P.D. is comprised of dead, er undead officers who destroy dead, er, undead criminals who got away with murder, literally.
R.I.P.D.’s newest officer, Nick (Ryan Reynolds) is a recently murdered cop who gets paired up with Roy (Jeff Bridges) to learn the ropes of his new beat. As Roy gives Nick the rundown, he informs him in a breezy “oh by the way” tone that he doesn’t look like himself anymore. Roy, who is actually a grizzled older white man, is a young beautiful blond, while Nick, who in life was a handsome young white man, is now an elderly Chinese man.
You won’t see another cop flick like this one unless there’s an R.I.P.D. sequel, and we’d make book on that happening. Rip-roaring fun. –p.d. lee
